After my first visits to my pediatrician filled with comfort and care, I knew I wanted to be like her. As a result, throughout my childhood, I found curiosity towards science and medicine, intrigued by its ability to support body functions and cure illnesses. When I was accepted to UCLA, I was beyond excited to pursue my pre-med journey but wasn’t exactly sure where to start. Luckily, I found the Pre-Med Community at UCLA, an organization that welcomes all students to events and shares resources in a non-competitive environment. I’ve gained valuable insight into medical careers during my first year and even got the opportunity during the spring quarter to pass on my knowledge as a peer mentor. And of course, my involvement as the social media coordinator and graphic designer has allowed me to express my creativity in flyers, collaborate with other pre-med organizations, and communicate efficiently with our members. I’ve been able to advocate for our mission, link useful resources, and most importantly, act as a lighthouse for my pre-med peers seeking guidance.
